November to March – From November to March, it’s best to avoid visiting Mount Kailash. This is the winter season, and it gets really cold – sometimes as low as -15°C, rarely going above 5°C. There’s also a lot of snow, which makes the hiking paths hard to walk on and unsafe. Because of these tough conditions, most people don’t go to Mount Kailash during this time of year. It’s just too risky and uncomfortable for most travelers.
April – In April, Mount Kailash is still pretty cold, with temperatures between -5°C and 10°C. There is usually snow on the ground, which can make hiking a bit challenging but not impossible. If you are used to cold-weather hiking and have the right gear, you can start your trip this month.
Make sure to bring lots of warm clothes like long underwear, a big jacket, gloves, and a warm hat. Don’t forget sturdy boots for the snow, sunglasses to protect your eyes from the bright snow, and hiking poles to help you keep your balance. It is a bit challenging, but with good preparation, you can enjoy the mountain’s beauty in its winter-like state.
May to June – Early summer, from May to June, is a great time to visit. The weather’s nice, with temperatures ranging from chilly to comfortably warm. With temperatures between 5°C and 20°C, the snow begins to melt, thus, it will be easier to get around. Remember to dress in layers because the temperature can change throughout the day. Don’t forget to bring a raincoat, warm undershirts, sturdy hiking shoes, something to protect your head from the sun, and sunglasses. This time of year offers a good balance of clear paths and comfortable weather for your trip.
July to August – Mount Kailash is busiest from July to August. It is warm by then, with temperatures ranging from 10 to 25 degrees Celsius. Even though it is the rainy season, you can still hike the trails. Just expect some showers. Pack light clothes, a raincoat, good waterproof shoes, and don’t forget a hat and sunscreen for clear days. This time of year offers a good mix of warm weather and accessible paths, making it popular with visitors despite the chance of rain.
September to October – Fall is a fantastic time to visit, usually from early September to late October. The weather is cool, with temperatures ranging from freezing to about 15°C (59°F). You will enjoy clear views and steady conditions, perfect for hiking. But don’t forget, it can get pretty cold, especially after dark. Make sure to bring clothes you can layer, a cozy coat, sturdy hiking shoes, and don’t forget warm gloves and a hat to keep your head and hands toasty. This time of year is ideal for outdoor adventures, but you will want to be prepared for the cooler temperatures.
